{4} Tension as a Source of Power

{4} Tension as a Source of Power
A butterfly, soon to emerge from a cocoon, hanging on a plant leaf.

The caterpillar didn't resolve the tension between crawling and flying. It held the tension long enough to become something that could do neither — and then both, in a new form. Edition 4 of Flight of the Genius.

When a Visual Emerges from a Framework

💭Like a Butterfly from a Coocoon

Hello Genius,

I did a thing. I didn't hire a branding agency. I built a framework over twenty years, all of it held in tension until I finally articulated it in a conversation, described the visual logic — and an image emerged. The butterfly.

"Brought to you by the butterfly."
~from podcast intro October into January

Back in October, I sensed something about the butterfly, but she was still a fuzzy concept. I even used it playfully in my podcast intro,

It didn't make sense then. As if a butterfly were my sponsor. It was me, in my head, so my apologies if you listened to earlier episodes and scratched your head at that.

I reworked the podcast to be more energetic in January. The music changed. The intro was reworded.

The butterfly flew south for the winter.

And NOW... the Butterfly is BACK! And she is showing up in her power!

She is now not only the Brand logo, but she is the central element for the EDG Map, a tool I have designed for mapping your Genius. Remember that emerging framework?

It's still a work in development so stay tuned. For now, here's my butterfly. Isn't she gorgeous?

Like you, Every Day Genius is a work in progress. It's one of the things that makes what I do so powerful. Because I live - my business lives - in the same transformational energies you do!

Next week, I will share more of the origin story in which Every Day Genius was birthed.

🥳Featured Genius - Amy Ayres

Unapologetic Neurodivergent Genius

Amy Marie Ayres is an award‑winning indie author, mom, and neurospicy authorpreneur coach. She writes, she coaches, she cares for her young daughter, all with the aplomb of someone who has faced her share of challenges and seen them through.

Hidden in her interview is what I call the Flight of Two Wings, where the tension between opposites is held in power. It's more than balance; it's energy in motion.

Watch for it, the Flight of Two Wings: Where Amy Ayres says she gets to be "Someone who finally gets to live with both comfort and possibility." Is it merely aspirational or is it a hidden power of her Genius?
