Every Day Genius: The Podcast

Every Day Genius: The Podcast - Daily, short, bite-sized episodes with tidbits of wisdom (usually 5-8 minutes) from your host Michele Jennae and a series of inspired guests.

I take a lovely hour-long conversation and break it into lovely "coffee breaks" so that you can get to know my guest over the course of a few weeks.

Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday - Michele Jennae shares from her heart what's on her mind.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday - Inspired guests share their Genius with you about their personal and professional journeys. The line between professional and personal often fades away.

💞This Week in Review

Recap

Escape the madness of the world with down-to-earth wisdom from Lisa Tighe. On Monday [144] Lisa explains her philosophy behind Finally Me! a worksheet/exercise you can download on her website for free. Then she takes us from Watch Me! to Why NOT!? on Tuesday [145], demonstrating the act of choosing yourself. Finally, Lisa finishes her guest series with her Purpose and Passion Project on Thursday [147].

Your host, and yours truly Michele Jennae, talks about her reasons for choosing VIA Strengths in her work, versus other assessment systems on Sunday [144]. Word Wednesday [146] unpacks the word stupid, yep that's right, stupid, in its unflattering etymology, but then flips it with the help of author Steve D. Sims. On Friday [148] she shares some inspiration to gain hope in these despairing times, and on Saturday [149] unpacks the VIA Strength Social Intelligence, needed now more than ever.

Episode 143

I recently created a video explaining why I use VIA Strengths in my coaching and workshop work, and I wanted to share it here with you. Monday: [144] Finally Me!

Episode 137 with Lisa Tighe

Today I ask Lisa what "Finally Me" means to her. She offers a FREE guide on her website to help people decide to put themselves first. She says midlife often presents people with more money, more time, or both and her guidance helps people remember the things they've always wanted to do.

Tuesday: [145] From Watch Me! to Why Not!

Episode 145 with Lisa Tighe

In episode 134, Lisa Tighe of Lisa Tighe Therapy and Coaching shares her "Watch Me" story. In today's episode, she comes full circle with a "WHY NOT?" From a conversation beginning with mid-life crisis, we move into a conversation about little experiments so that "those things we think we might want" don't just sit in our heads.
Can we just begin to ask ourselves WHY NOT?

Wednesday: [146] Can We Get Stupid for a Minute?

Episode 146 Word Wednesday - Stupid

Contrasted with last week's word "learn," today we talk about the violence of the word stupid, the roots meaning to be stunned or stupefied. Then we mindshift the word and stun ourselves into forgetting to focus so much on failure at the suggestion of Steve D. Sims, author of Bluefishing.

Thursday: [147]

Episode 147 with Lisa Tighe

Purpose and Passion, two of my favorite topics, and Lisa Tighe feels the same. In fact, she launched the Purpose and Passion Project a few years ago and I've invited her to tell us all about it.

Enjoy this last episode in my series with Lisa. I hope you have enjoyed getting to know her better.

Friday: [141] Hope in a Despairing World

Episode 141

Today I share inspiration and hope from the poetry of David Whyte and a newsletter from Paul Levy that popped into my inbox today. Whyte says we must choose the world in which we belong by eliminating the "anyones" and "anythings" that are too small for us. Levy encourages us to get right with ourselves, becoming what Carl Jung called rainmakers, spreading sweet saving rain like good ideas gone viral. This, to counter what he calls wetiko, an indigenous idea of a mindvirus gone bad.

Your Inner Genius is your rainmaker!

Saturday: [142] VIA Strength: Social Intelligence

Episode 142

Social Intelligence, one of 7 Game-Changer Strengths, the ones that have the most power overall to change your life for the better. Even if they aren't in your "Signature Strengths," you can develop them for a more fulfilling life. Social intelligence is interpersonal and intrapersonal, the ability to be aware if motives and feelings of oneself and others.
