[151] Disruptor, Business Owner, Wife, Nature Lover

Episode 151

Meet my next guest, Dortha Hise. She'll be with me for 9 Genius-filled episodes and today she begins by telling us exactly who she is. Listen to her. She doesn't hedge. She runs her business the same way, and incidentally helps you run yours that way too, should you choose to work with her.

[152] Repatterning as a Quiet Disruptor

Episode 152

My guest, Dortha Hise is a self-proclaimed disruptor. But in her words, a quiet disruptor, not one who brings chaos. What does she mean by that? Tune in. She's going to let you know.

[154] Disrupting our Disruptors

Episode 154

Do you look at your cell phone first thing in the morning? Dortha talks about her morning habits and what she prioritizes over using her phone. She adds that women often fail to prioritize themselves and as a result end up burnt out. It doesn't have to be that way.

[155] Regaining Time to Breathe

Episode 155

What would you do with an extra FOUR hours a week? It might not sound like a lot, but it might mean the difference between being burnt out and revitalized. It can give you time to breathe, maybe time to tackle some projects you've been putting off. My guest Dortha Hise talks about the importance of regaining time.

[158] Blue Flame, Dichotomies, and Silence

Episode 158

I ask Dortha about her purpose, what I call a Blue Flame, and ask if there were pivot points that led her to what she is doing in her work. She gives a lovely answer that highlights a dichotomy involving nature and technology.

(I explored the idea of polarities in episodes 156 and 157.)

Then there was a period of about 20 minutes of silence, which I edited out. But I left in our conversation about that silence because it highlights Dortha's genuine and grounded response, echoing her commitment to herself expressed throughout her episodes. It also highlights a need for silence and thoughtful response in conversations in general which isn't something most of us are accustomed to.

[159] Yes/And, Silence, and Space

Episode 159

In today's episode, Dortha and I continue our conversation about the power of silence in a conversation, when it allows for people to be heard AND to have the time and space to hear themselves think. We also talk about the negating power of the word "but" and what we can do instead.

[161] The Responsible Use of Technology

Episode 161

Is AI good, bad, neutral? My guest Dortha Hise talks about AI as useful, but only insofar as we are using it with careful thought and consideration. Technology is a word that means skill and ability, and humans have their inherent technologies that, like AI, can be used for good or bad. Thoughts to ponder.

[162] A Welcome Mat

Episode 162

Dortha offers a free tool on her LinkedIn profile called The Delegation Map. I ask her about it, saying that for me it felt like a welcome mat. She talks about her philosophy behind the tool, its simple design, and its value to someone who needs to assess their business in a way they hadn't before. It just might be what allows them to see that working with Dortha makes sense.

[165] Inspirational Influences

Episode 165

In the final episode in this series with Guest Dortha Hise, I ask her who she admires, who has influenced her. She responds with four people: authors, businesspeople, a holistic medicine practitioner. Tune in to find our more.
