💞The Week in Review

Recap

My friend and guest Lany Sullivan brings hard won wisdom to the podcast. This week [186-189] she continues sharing her story and some nuggets of wisdom she's gained along the way. She shares about 100% ownership of one's decisions in life, as the best place to make new decisions from. How assumptions can get in the way of our humanity, for ourselves and for others. From there, we dip into lessons that come from road rage applicable across life, and Lany talks about the capacity for work in Thursday's episode, what it is, and how she helps business owners find it for themselves.

This weekend seems to be all about the cost of not embodying and expressing our Genius with a bit of Perspective in between. On Friday [190] I share what it costs to fly on one wing, what most of us are doing most of the time. On Sunday [192],
I expand on what it costs to avoid the crossing point into the other wing. They're related but also different in how they affect us. On Saturday [191], right in the middle, we look at the VIA Strength Perspective, and I map it. A few Strengths episodes and you'll know the map more and more deeply.

This Week's Guest

Lany Sullivan provides operational strategies for businesses that have outgrown their chaos, by helping established companies fix operational bottlenecks, build scalable systems, and turn growth into something that stops creating more chaos.

[186] 100% Ownership

Episode 186 with Lany Sullivan

One thing Lany Sullivan learned in coaching and in life has been taking 100% ownership for the choices she makes. That's not to say she is always in control of what happens to her, but she can take responsibility for how she responds.

[187] Before You Assume, Pause

Episode 187 with Lany Sullivan

Yesterday's conversation with Lany Sullivan about assumptions led into the subject of road rage, the perfect example of how negative assumptions escalate. Lany points out that there are lessons to be learned, not only about the dangers of road rage itself, but about how other situations in life mirror it. The way we respond has consequences.

[188] Lessons from the Road (Rage)

Episode 188 with Lany Sullivan

Yesterday's conversation with Lany Sullivan about assumptions led into the subject of road rage, the perfect example of how negative assumptions escalate. Lany points out that there are lessons to be learned, not only about the dangers of road rage itself, but about how other situations in life mirror it. The way we respond has consequences.

[189] Capacity for Work

Episode 189 with Lany Sullivan

Today Lany talks about what a business (and a person) looks like in chaos versus what it looks like in flow. She says that it all comes down to capacity, the capacity to be doing the work. Without it, it's chaos. With it, flow is much easier.

Friday: [190] The Cost of One Wing Flying

Episode 190 with Michele Jennae

Last week we named two wings on the EDG Butterfly Map.The Ideation Wing in episode 184 — curiosity, possibility, the pull toward what could be. The Structure Wing in episode 185 — follow-through, systems, making things real.

And in episode 186, we talked about wing dominance — the natural lean of your genius, the wing that tends to do more of the flying.

Today I want to talk about what happens when one wing does all of the flying. What it costs us.

Saturday: [191] A Strength Called Perspective

Episode 191 with Michele Jennae

It's another VIA Strength, and it maps perfectly on the EDG Point or crossing point of the EDG Butterfly Map, though it also stands alone, and in concert with the other 23 VIA Strengths.

Find out what Perspective looks like from a Genius point of view, the one on the EDG Butterfly Map.

Sunday: [192] Avoiding the Crossing Comes with Cost

Episode 192 with Michele Jennae

The crossing point of the EDG Butterfly Map isn't just a concept. It's a choice. Today, we'll talk about what the crossing point is all about - about how to stop flying from only one wing. We come to the crossing point over and over when our one-wing focus flags, but most of the time, we fail to cross over to the other wing.

Why? And What is the cost?
