The Art of Genius

The Art of Genius

You are Genius, and there is Art in that. Whether you realize it or not.

The Art of Genius

Every great work of art begins with a single stroke.

Not a grand gesture. Not the right supplies or the perfect space or the moment when everything finally feels ready. Just one small mark on the page — and then another.

We forget this. We construct elaborate reasons why we can't begin. We need this, that, and the other before we can start, before we can enter flow, before we can finish, before we can share. But those thoughts aren't wisdom. They're resistance.

The truth of the great work of an artist and the great work of the Genius in expression is the same. Small strokes. All the little things that accumulate into the big things. The doodle that becomes the drawing. The drawing that becomes the masterpiece. The mark that becomes the map.

Obra maestra — masterwork — doesn't arrive fully formed. It is built, one small honest stroke at a time.

So, here's the question I invite you to sit with:

What little things are you dismissing about your own genius — your own work of art in this world — because you've been taught to believe that art is ____________?

I'm sure you can fill that blank better than I can. We've already done this with the word genius. It's always someone else, somewhere else, something else. For a whole host of reasons that were never really yours to carry.

What if you put pen to paper today and found out differently?
